12 Punk Kids Netted in East Jakarta

Joint personnel from Kramatjati Sector Police Intel and East Jakarta Satpol PP hold raid against punk kids in the municipality, Wednesday (6/25). As a result, 12 punk kids are netted from three locations, namely Cililitan Wholesale Center (PGC), Hek Intersection, and Garuda area.

Kramatjati Sub-District Head, Dian Purfanto, said this is the third raid conducted to respond the complaints filed by residents, especially public transport passengers who were disturbed because punk kids often asked for money forcefully when busking. The raid is also carried out to provide security and comfort to residents in welcoming fasting month of Ramadhan.

Uha (28), one of the punk kids netted, admitted that he busking because he had no choice. Previously, he worked at screen printing shop.
“I was working at screen printing shop but have resigned. It is better to be busking than have no job. The most important is that I’m not stealing,” he said.
Meanwhile, Kramatjati Sub-District Community Health Center HIV Counselor, Posma Ida Manalu, disclosed that the punk kid who was proven positive infected with HIV and already died was a girl initialed Y (29). Two of her friends who still alive are D (30) and A (31). All of them were infected with HIV through syringe needle.
“D and A are still hang around on the street now, busking around PGC until Hek. Because HIV is an infectious disease, it is possible they infect the disease to other punk kids. That’s why we had their blood tested again,” she explained.
According to Manalu, the blood test is also conducted to discover whether those punk kids infected with venereal diseases such as syphilis or not. This is because they were alleged had done free sex.
